​Concerts in the Park

Concerts in the Park is a day of live entertainment, showcasing the northwest’s most talented bands. And thanks to the sponsors and hard-working organizers, it’s all free. Remember to bring your chair, blanket, sunglasses and get ready for the fun of a summertime music festival. The Park will be filled with vendors, food and activities all day.

Skeena Salmon Art Show

Entering its 2nd year the Skeena Salmon Art Fest is “an artistic celebration of the cultural and ecological importance of Skeena Salmon.” Artists from the Skeena watershed were invited to submit 1-2 pieces of artwork to this group exhibition featured at the Terrace Art Gallery for the month of August. Over 60 artists’ works will be on display and for sale, with a juried component receiving additional recognition.

Mixed Slo-Pitch Tournament

The best slo-pitch teams in the region compete to play in Monday’s Finals at Riverside Park.

Bubble Trouble!

See the kids’ faces light up when they see a huge Bouncy Castle set up in the Park. Entrance fees to be charged. Check them out on Facebook.

90s vs 2000s Dance!

Come out and re-live a night of great music from both decades! The Ultimate Dance Party for the “Barbie girl in a Barbie world” or the “I ain't no Hollaback girl!” Northwest BCs favourite DJs from Bust-a-Move will be spinning the tunes! Adult Event. No Minors permitted; must have photo ID.

Slingers Race

How difficult could it be, for these pros to carry a tray of filled glasses through an obstacle course? Teams of 4 servers from Terrace pubs and restaurants compete in the annual Slingers Race. There might be a spill or two but many more laughs. There will be an outside patio beer garden for those 19 years and over.

Movie in the Park: The Lego Movie 2

“Everything will be awesome” as this year’s outdoor movie is the latest release from the animated Lego movie series. We are back to Bricksburg plus adventure filled travels around the Lego universe. This Warner Brothers release has “heart and humour galore” according to Rotten Tomatoes. Bring your blanket or chair, huddle up and enjoy. There’s more! Activities like Bubble Trouble and Nerftastic Nerf Gun Battles will be back in the Park earlier in the day. And for the movie there will be popcorn, thanks to Tillicum Twin Theatres!!!

Church in the Park

All are invited to a morning of worship during the Riverboat Days weekend. Hosted by various churches of Terrace, the outdoor service includes music, prayer and a message. Please bring lawn chairs, sunscreen and an umbrella (you never know!). Invite a friend! An offering will be taken to support local ministries who care for the hungry in Terrace.

​Mr. Mikes Beach Blast Volleyball

With many hands they somehow transform a parking lot into a beach! Then it is a hive of activity for the next two days. Competition in three categories and in recreational and competitive divisions: 4 on 4 Coed, 2 on 2 Men’s, and 3 on 3 Women’s. Exceptional prizing. Always great fun for competitors and spectators.

Crime Stoppers "Jail & Bail"

There will be a flurry of activity downtown as the RCMP will be rounding up “criminals” this afternoon to land in jail in the Bell Media parking lot. And they don’t get out till bail is paid. It’s the annual fundraiser for Terrace Crime Stoppers and it is all for fun. Isn’t there a relative, co-worker or boss whose misdeeds or annoying habits require the dispensing of justice? ($50 recommended as a minimum donation for bail.)

Happy Gang Pancake Breakfast

For many, Riverboat Days doesn’t really start till you’ve had your Happy Gang Saturday morning breakfast. Family friendly healthy start to all your Riverboat Days events: 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, scrambled eggs, with juice, coffee or tea. Pancake breakfasts are held the 1st Saturday of each month but it is extra special when it’s Riverboat Days!

Eby Street Fish Hatchery Open House

What was once the City’s water supply source is now a compact but vital fish hatchery tucked away at the foot of the Bench. Hatchery volunteers will explain how the hatchery works, the taking of coho salmon brood stock, taking of eggs, raising of fry to smolts and their release back into their original local rivers. A hands-on experience to learn about the life cycle of salmon.

Kitsumkalum

Salmon Barbecue

You haven’t experienced Riverboat Days until you’ve taken in the Kitsumkalum Barbecue, happening since 1987! Fresh wild salmon cooked on an authentic open pit barbecue, potato salad, fried bread and more! Be sure to check out the local First Nation vendors who will be set up. Inflatable Fun Rentals will also have a kid zone bouncy castle area set up,

Terrace Rotary Wild Duck Race

A helicopter will drop rubber ducks into the west channel of the Skeena River between the old and new bridges—and the race is on! The ducks will race downstream to a finish line even with the Walmart building, where a flotilla of boats wait to pluck the winners from the water. Spectators watch the race on the portion of the new bridge on Highway 16 closest to Walmart. If you’ve bought your $20 Duck Race ticket, you could win $25,000 cash, a ½ hour helicopter ride, 65” Sharp TV, or $500 gift card from Canadian Tire.

Hospital Foundation Golf Scramble

A fundraiser for the REM Lee Hospital Foundation, be part of this first annual golf scramble.

Firework Extravaganza

It’s the perfect ending to a very busy day at Riverboat Days. Watch the sunset and gather in this amazing setting overlooking the Skeena River below the Old Bridge for an incredible once-a-year spectacle!

Drag Racing

Head to the airport for some loud and fast! This is 1/8th mile drag racing for some of the hottest cars, dragsters and motorcycles in the region. Friday night’s program features Street Legal racing—cars fit for the road are tested on the track. Bracket Racing is offered in the Sunday/Monday program.

Skeena Valley Farmers Market

Since the 1980s, this has been one of BC’s most successful farmers markets. The Skeena Valley Market is a hive of activity Saturday mornings. Fresh produce, baked goods, crafts and outdoor music draw crowds from May to October. One of the treasures of the Skeena Valley is its agriculture. First time visitors are surprised by the quality and range of products on sale at the Market.

Terrace’s Best Kid Crafters and Activities

Be original, creative, safe and fun. Get to work right away making your original art, crafts or hobbies and submit it by August 1st. (Not from a kit.) These works will be displayed and voted on by the public. Up to $50 cash value gift cards to be won in each age group. For ages 4 to 14. Plus there will be cool, hands on demonstrations for everyone to try.

Terrace Road Hockey Rumble

The 3rd Annual Road Hockey event held in our community for kids. A fun-filled indoor road hockey tournament--3 on 3 road hockey with a goalie.

Family Golf Day

A great way to introduce the family to a new pastime. Play 4 holes of golf and enjoy a hot dog and beverage back at the clubhouse for just $20. Rental clubs provided free of charge, if needed.

Community Fundraising BBQ

A special feature of this annual event is that a worthy cause is designated by the previous year’s recipient to receive the proceeds of the barbecue. Plastic Free Terrace will receive this year’s proceeds, thanks to 2018’s Skeena Diversity Society. This year’s BBQ will be plastic free. Everyone’s gathered at Gobind Mall. Just $5 will get you well fed, plus there are door prizes.

Skeena Valley Country Music Festival

Get your listening ears on & your dancing shoes ready for three days of great music at the Thornhill Community Hall.

Historic Cemetery Tour

Learn the history of the Skeena Valley through this engaging interpretive tour of the Kitsumgallum Cemetery. First Nations people, WW1 soldiers, strawberry breeders and Serbian railway workers are among those highlighted.

Legion Parade

Thousands will line Lakelse Avenue this morning for the annual parade! Spectators will be treated to colourful floats, bands, lots of excitement and no doubt some candy. This year’s parade theme is “100 Years of Celebrating Community Spirit.” The parade starts at City Hall on Lakelse Avenue and travels east to end at the Legion. Can’t make it to the parade? The parade will be broadcast live on TV courtesy of CFTK-TV and Citywest Cable.

Davis Cup Soccer Tournament

Come watch the beautiful game! This has quickly become one of the largest sports events within Riverboat Days, attracting teams from all over BC and out of province, producing a very high level of play. The Davis Cup is four days of competitive soccer in 5 divisions: Women’s, Open Men’s, and Masters (35 and over) 14U Coed (full field) and 12U Coed (8v8).

Refreshments, specials and draws through the day at the Salvation Army’s store on Kalum Street.

"Challenge Yourself at MaXXed Out"

Get active during Riverboat Days! MaXXed Out is offering three different fitness challenges for males and females, 13 years and over. Try the Heavy Weight Sled Push, the Heavy PowerDrive Trainer Push, or lay down the best time in the Obstacle Course. Gym shoes to be worn. Gym pass prizes to be won…and bragging rights. Spectators welcome.

YVC 2nd Annual Soapbox Derby

After a successful launch last year, the YVC Soapbox Derby is back again, with some significant upgrades. This year you can build your own cart, just follow the links on Volunteer Terrace’s Facebook page for more information, rules and guidelines. Also new this year is the location: Park Avenue Hill near Kalum Street. There are team competitions, celebrity races and chances just to ride in a soapbox cart.

Kids Superhero and Princess Party

Come to Boston Pizza dressed up as your favourite superhero or princess. Make your own pizza. Even tour the kitchen. Coloring contest, prizes and goodie bags.

Historic Downtown Walking Tour

Learn about the history of Terrace through a guided historical walking tour of the downtown. The tour will feature the Nash family, the Terrace WW2 Mutiny, photos of early Terrace and more.

Terrace Rod & Gun Club/Terrace Whiskey Jack Archers Open House

A “Hands-On” event, giving participants an opportunity to experience safely various firearms and archery. Shoot different calibers of handguns, shotguns at the trap range, black powder rifles, 22 caliber rifles at paper targets, as well as arrows at life size 3-D animal and paper targets, after basic instruction. One can even toss a tomahawk at a target.

Open Basketball Tournament

The first ever Riverboat Days Annual Open Basketball Tournament! With over 50 teams registered, this Tournament is set to be a great one. Cash prizes, championship jackets, trophies & Player of the Game shirts rewarded.

Opening Ceremonies

When you hear the boom of a black powder cannon, you will know we are underway with Riverboat Days 2019! Gather in the Park for light entertainment, refreshments and children’s activities for the official Opening Ceremonies. It is also where long-term community contributors are conferred the ceremonial title of Riverboat Days Captain and Queen. For 2019 we welcome Rose and Henry Dreger.

Riverboat Days Car Show

Polished chrome, faultless paint, things are positively gleaming at the Arena! It is the annual Cruizers Car Show at the Sportsplex. Cars from around the northwest of every vintage from the 1940s to the present day will be on display. Come out and vote for your favourite vehicle for the People’s Choice Award.

Saturday Night Races

Competitive stock car racing tonight at the paved ¾ mile Terrace Speedway.

20th Annual Ruins Skateboard Competition

A great venue to perform and to watch the excitement. Check out some steezy skateboarders get buck and gnarly on the concrete. Categories include 13 & under, 14-17, and Open. BBQ, music and good times to be had. More info at Ruins.

Kermodei Tourism’s BBQ

Join the Board of Directors and Kermodei Tourism staff for a barbecue to celebrate tourism in Terrace. Kermodei Tourism will be showcasing local art from artisans in the northwest.

Heritage Garden Open House

Come tour our gardens. The plants in Heritage Park’s Heritage Garden date back to the 1890s. See the Skeena Wonder Strawberry, Eliza Thornhill’s honeysuckle, and many old varieties of lilies, roses and lilacs. Refreshments available.

Join us for music, cake and tea. Don’t forget your Optimum card. All day, seniors receive 20% off purchases when you present your card.

Lazelle Avenue Block Party

A festive atmosphere will prevail in the 4600 Block of Lazelle Avenue. This family-friendly event features live music, an artists’ boardwalk and local businesses.

Terrace Legion 5 th Annual Trivia Contest

Andy Leighton will be hosting, as teams of 4 demonstrate their general knowledge in the Legion Trivia Contest.
